Abstract

A study of the hydration process of cements with 10% and 20% addition of a tuff from "Las Carolinas" quarry (Cienfuegos, Cuba) by different methods was done. The results obtained by different methods showed a good agreement. It was proved an increment of the hydration products, an acceleration of alite hydration and a swelling of the fixed water in mixed cements. The resistance of the cement with 10% addition is similar to that of the pure cement for ages of 28 days, whereas with 20% addition they were similar only after 180 days.
