Abstract

This report begins with a series of three, comprising the construction of a universal system of ambiental simulation for accelerated tests of materials. If this first publication there are established, on the basis of the specialized bibliography, the criteria which should guide the designing of a system of this type, and likewise the experiencies of alteration. After the revision of the types of tests at present existing, with an indication of the main advantages and inconveniences of each, there are described the phases which should lead to the implanting of a program of experiences of alteration, whose object may be the investigation of the mechanisms of the proccess or the evaluation of the measures of protection considered most adequate to improve the resistence of the different materials to polluted atmospheres. Finally, there are a series of considerations on the installations and techniques available for the simulation of atmospheres.
