Abstract

Limestone filler addition to Portland cement does not only have an impact on the mechanical strength of mortars, but its action also alters their rheological values. Taking a Portland cement as the basic material and incorporating different calcareous filler portions from 0 to 50 %, standard mortars were prepared, determining drainage and setting (rheological values) and establishing the correlations between these values and the respective limestone filler content. In addition, the hardened mortars were studied by X-ray diffraction and their mechanical strength was determined (1),(2), (9), (10), (11).
