EDITORIAL Special 16th ICAAR issue

New journal’s editorial procedures

Dr. Mar Alonso

Editor-in-chief, Materiales de Construcción

Dear friends:

On 25 April last Materiales de Construcción took what we have long deemed a necessary step: from that date forward, the journal’s editorial procedures will be conducted from a new website.

Articles and their revised versions will now be uploaded on https://materconstrucc.revistas.csic.es/index.php/materconstrucc/about/submissions, which will both streamline such procedures and allow authors to monitor the status of their submissions in real time.

In view of this new development, we are pleased to invite you to register as journal readers on https://materconstrucc.revistas.csic.es/index.php/materconstrucc/user/register for speedier and more efficient handling of your manuscripts.

These new arrangements have called for slight amendments to the journal’s submission and publication guidelines. An optional manuscript submission template is now available, registration and paper submission are fully explained and standards introduced on the use of inclusive and non-sexist language. In addition, each author’s individual contributions must be specified further to the responsibilities defined in the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), and their ORCID numbers cited. A duly completed authorship, good publication practice and copyright transfer statement signed by all is likewise required. The ultimate intention is to enhance the journal’s visibility and editorial quality.

In line with raising quality, authors are reminded that the journal is present on Twitter, where we publish not only news on the latest developments but the articles accepted for publication to heighten their visibility. We encourage you to follow us on https://twitter.com/MaterialesdeCo3.

I take this opportunity to announce that this year’s second issue is a monograph carrying a selection of papers submitted to the 16th International Conference on Alkali Aggregate Reaction in Concrete, to be held from 31 May to 2 June next in Lisbon. Materiales de Construcción feels honoured to serve as a showcase for this important event, affording our readership access to the studies prepared by the area’s most reputed specialists. Dr Esperanza Menéndez, expert in the area and Conference Scientific Committee member, has lent the journal invaluable support as co-editor for this special issue.

We hope you will enjoy reading the articles in this issue and look forward to receiving your papers through our new website.
