Soil samples were collected from roads in Nigeria’s six geo-political regions. DRP LS-40 (lignate sulfonate) and DRP SA-44 (sulfuric acid) were added to the soil materials. The mixture precipitated a non-reversible chemical reaction that involved a permanent change in the soil structure. The chemicals reacted with the clay content, increasing the soil material plasticity. In non-plastic soils, clay materials were added to the soil, which was then pulverised. The study showed that DRP soil stabilisation chemicals can render poor, unsuitable or marginally deficient soils apt for use as a sub-base or base in roadway construction. ER -
