La influencia menos discutida del C3A sobre las cualidades del cemento es su efecto sobre el calor de hidratación. Los primeros que relacionan la composición del cemento con el calor de hidratación son Wood Seteineur y Starka en 1932 (17). Sus resultados son probablemente anticuados. Verbeck y Forter (18) y más tarde Blaine y Arni (19) usan la regresión lineal; sus resultados no son comparables con los de otros autores, pero indican que el cemento más rico en C3A desprende más calor de hidratación, mientras el más rico en sílice produce el menor calor de hidratación.
