Pocos temas de un contenido tan específico y delimitado dentro del campo de la Durabilidad del Hormigón, entendida como resistencia química del material, han .tenido tanta difusión y han despertado tanta curiosidad, e incluso tanto interés en tan poco tiempo, como el de la reacción expansiva árido-álcalis, o álcali-agregado, tal como se acostumbra a denominar en la bibliografía científico-técnica anglosajona especializada.
