Abstract

A review of some relevant papers about the cutting of ornamental stones with diamond tools is presented here with the aim of being useful to the Natural Stone industries. Due to the length of this paper, it has been divided in two parts: in the first one, the influence of the factors of the cutting equipments (machinery, disks, cutting characteristics, etc) is reviewed, and in the second one, in the next number of this journal, attention will be paid to the intrinsic rock characteristics that influences its cuttability and, thus, the efficiency of the diamond tools.
